Ubik (Panther science fiction) review
Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 29 March 2012 02:09 (A review of Ubik (Panther science fiction))I liked this science fiction novel of the past intruding into the present. I especially liked the scene where Joe sees an early twentieth-century elevator instead of the modern one that should be there.

Beyond the Blue Event Horizon (Heechee Saga) review
Posted : 12 years, 11 months ago on 20 December 2011 07:29 (A review of Beyond the Blue Event Horizon (Heechee Saga))I liked this science fiction book about discovery and relationships. I noticed that although there were spaceships and colonization of other worlds, the communication problems resembled pre-telegraph days.

The Minds of Billy Milligan review
Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 4 February 2011 10:34 (A review of The Minds of Billy Milligan)This was an interesting book about someone who learned that he was rarely in charge of his actions. One scene that stuck in my mind was when "Phillip" decided to go to New York and "David" came forward and couldn't carry the weight of the duffel bag.

Banvard's Folly: Thirteen Tales of People Who Didn't Change the World review
Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 4 February 2011 10:33 (A review of Banvard's Folly: Thirteen Tales of People Who Didn't Change the World)This is a fascinating book about people and their tenuous claim to fame. I liked learning about the musical language "Solresol," promoted by Jean Francois Sudre and the use of blue glass to heal as promoted by A.J. Pleasanton.

Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 4 February 2011 09:33 (A review of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: A Savannah Story)I liked this book about Savannah and what happened there in 1981 and afterwards. Just learning about the city's history and its inhabitants was worth the read. I look forward to seeing the movie.
